The last few weeks there has been a lot of burglary in our home village and we were looking for a nice GIP project on the internet.
We came across an example of someone who made a security camera with a Raspberry Pi.
This looked very interesting to us, but we thought we could do more with it.
So we came up with the idea of making a smart doorbell with the Raspberry Pi.
When we came up with the idea to make a smart doorbell, we naturally also had to come up with a suitable name for our product. We came up with the idea of "Slim Dong" by merging: Smart Doorbell and Ding Dong. Another idea was "SDB" (which refers to the abbreviation for Smart Doorbell), but it didn't turn out.
What our project entails
The Sim Dong will be a smart doorbell that is connected to an application for the smartphone. When someone rings the bell, the owner receives a notification on his smartphone from the app that says that someone is at the door. The owner can then open the application and then he is given 2 options: either he can choose to leave a message, or he can choose to communicate live with the visitor. If the owner chooses to leave a message, the visitor will see this message on the screen of the doorbell, even if the owner chooses to communicate live, the visitor will see the video communication on the screen.
